Established in 2004, JSD is a multidisciplinary agency comprising a team that delivers branding, graphics, digital, UX and UI design, animation, interior, wayfinding and event collateral.
We create and refresh brands, design community engagement collateral for government, public and private organisations and improve spaces and the built environment through wayfinding, environmental graphics and signage. Our aim is to make the creative process enjoyable and successful through a relaxed working relationship, which in our experience always delivers the best results.
We work with a broad range of clients, from architecture and planning to professional services, corporate, retail and technology sectors, government and small business. We value and measure our success by the long term, ongoing partnerships that we have built with them.
JOEL SPENCER - DIRECTOR
Joel has a Grad. Dip in Design, UTS and is a member of the Design Institute of Australia (DIA).
He is a designer with over 16 years experience working in both London and Sydney. Joel has worked across a variety of sectors from architecture and planning to corporate, retail and technology, government and small business.
Joel is responsible for the strategy, creative direction and delivery of projects. His approach is to explore new ways of thinking about design and the role it plays in helping businesses grow and be sustainable. His focus is on branding, community and spaces.
Joel is a conversationalist, designer and architecture nerd.
DAMIEN AH SAM, RESEARCH & STRATEGY - Consultant
Damien has a MCom, USYD, and a Grad. Dip BA, ACU.
Damien is a market research and business planning specialist with over 12 years’ experience in telecommunications, media, energy and business consulting. He is currently specialising in the management of bespoke research studies, through to the preparation of business plans with detailed analysis to help achieve tactical and strategic business objectives.
Research projects have had a particular focus on market segmentation, market potential analysis, customer experience, concept testing, product launch assessment and brand health.
Damien is a keen squash player.
LIZ BROWNE, MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS
Elizabeth holds a degree in Business Marketing majoring in Media and Music Management.
She is a digital marketing specialist with 8 years experience in corporate, media and music industries. With a passion for merging the worlds of creative design and digital media, Liz has brought online campaigns to life for the likes of Gang of Youths, Jessica Mauboy, Delta Goodrem and X-Factor Australia winners, has created and implemented online awareness campaigns for some of Australia's premium emerging music talent and has successfully executed both online and traditional marketing campaigns for Australian mainstream radio stations, various Australian corporate companies and some of Australia’s biggest music festivals.
Elizabeth has a passion for anything nonconventional and loud, has far too many Spotify playlists on the go and knows way too much about the 80’s glam rock scene.
SOPHIE SPENCER - STUDIO/ACCOUNTS ASSISTANT
Sophie has an interesting background having studied both graphic design and horticulture.
With over 8 years experience working at an advertising agency, serviced offices and a couple of garden centres, Sophie brings varied experience dealing with clients, suppliers and assisting offices to run smoothly.
Sophie has an interest in manga, fashion and design.
